NB! Conference Update

NB! Conference Update
By Eco Medics • Issue #27 • View online
Greetings one and all,
Before I say anything else, we have an important update!
The Eco Medics Conference 2022 is now happening on 22 May!
Yes, one day later. Why the change? Well, the more exciting news is that we’ve confirmed the Royal Geographical Society as our venue for the in-person element of the event. It just seems fitting to host this year’s event at a place with such a rich history and understanding of the Earth we inhabit. The RGS headquarters are beautiful so please do attend in person if you can. It promises to be a memorable day.
You can still PRE-REGISTER to be eligible for the pre-release tickets going live tomorrow! Spread the word!
We’re calling for abstracts for both poster and oral presentations, so if you or a colleague has a project that needs presenting then follow THIS LINK to submit an abstract and have the opportunity to present at an international conference!

Success Stories
I’ve recently spent some time looking at what Greener NHS - South West have been up to. The answer? Some epic stuff! I particularly like the following projects:
  1. The Indexor system in Cornwall. Pathology’s solution to the 780,000 specimen bags sent annually from primary care…urgh! Is this something you could motivate for in your practice or Trust?
  2. Green Dentistry in Somerset.
  3. Quantifying the environmental benefits of virtual hospital appointments in Devon. 13.5 million miles of travelling. 277,679 hours in travel time. 2,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.
  4. A recycled bug hotel in the wildlife garden at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.
On a personal note, I’ve just launched a greener prescribing QIP at my practice and it feels great :)
